oh hey.
It’s me Phil from Mount Eerie. Remember me from the relentless advertising emails about Night Palace? No? Oh good.
(and just for old time’s sake, here you can
order it on vinyl
order it on CD
order it as a book
buy/download it on bandcamp)
I’m here now to toot my own horn a bunch of times in a row, just beeping and beeping until it runs out of air. The album came out Nov. 1st and I feel really good about how it was received. People were surprisingly ready for a huge slab of songs, not too scared of its heft. Everyone seems to have heard it in their own way and noticed very different things, which is cool. I like when a thing doesn’t immediately get boiled down into one narrow understanding.
People said some nice things. Here is too long of a list of links to some of the coverage that Night Palace received, in no order:
FLAUNT interiew (with outfits)
NPR New Music Friday (around 36:23)
the Needle Drop interview (video)
the Needle Drop review (video)
the Needle Drop review (text)
Professor Skye’s Record Review (long youtube)
KULT (svensk)
le Devoir review (français)
Heavy Pop review (deutsch)
OOR review (nederlands)
Indie for Bunnies (italiano)
Mindies review (español)
Música Instantânea (português)
and I think my appearance on the internet radio show Time Crisis with Ezra Koenig (of which, yes, I am a head) is airing tomorrow Dec. 7th, 2024 on Apple
and maybe also my Pitchfork “Perfect 10” is running tomorrow too?
Phewf. Too much?
Here are some photos from the recent whirlwind trip to NYC and then LA to play the Night Palace release shows with Jenn and Coley and Maria:

2 shows with Alan Sparhawk!
They weren’t announced when we first announced the Feb. and Apr. 2025 Mount Eerie tours, but now they are! And they’re on sale, going quick. 2 “co-headlining” shows with the great Alan Sparhawk:
Thurs. Apr. 10th, 2025 - Minneapolis, Minn. - First Avenue (with Alan Sparhawk)
Fri. Apr. 11th, 2025 - Milwaukee, Wisc. - Turner Hall (with Alan Sparhawk)

OK, “artist’s proofs”
Remember the book version of Night Palace? It’s still available.
But remember the ultra-limited hardcover edition, hand lettered in an edition of 26, which sold out in a blink? Those are still sold out. They look like this:

But Jules Faye, the master binder, was able to make a few extra “artist’s proofs” and I’m going to auction one off and give half the proceeds to NDN Collective. After that I may auction another one, depending on how it goes.
Good luck!
thanks everyone, talk to you later

Nice! I'm reading "practices of the python pro" because at my annual review my boss said my understanding of basic computer science is weak and "needs improvement." 😎
Loving Knausgard’s Stephen King era !
