Hello. Thanks for signing up to be on this mailing list. I’m really excited about it. The feeling is similar to those early teen zines in the mid 90s, a new way of announcing my little happenings and ideas. Seems quaint to get excited to have a way to broadcast my news now, in a time where everyone seems to be broadcasting full time in all directions. Maybe I’m excited because I know that you, the people who signed up to this thing on purpose, are actually interested and curious to get this stuff, not just being passive feed feeders. I’ll try to keep to the point.
There are two in-person events to announce that are to celebrate the release of Genevève Castrée, complete works, 1981 - 2016, the huge book that I spent the last 5+ years assembling and which has been recently published by Drawn & Quarterly (and is for sale right now on my website). Please come to one or both of these if you can, just for fun.
Also I got interviewed by Tom Power about the book for CBC Radio Q. It was great.

P.W. Elverum & Sun store news:
After a year of waiting and effort and money, the Glow pt. 2 by the Microphones is finally back in print on 2xLP. We got a bunch of copies this time and hopefully won’t run out again anytime soon.
A second printing of the Microphones box set is underway (and has been underway for like 18 months). We’re hoping to have them again in late January 2023, but nothing in the world of vinyl record making is certain. It’s probably sanest to make no promises about timing. Just know this: it is coming.
personal news:
My November is taken up full time teaching this songwriting class via School of Song. It’s a huge job. I knew it would be, but still wow. The other aspects of life are really slipping by undone. The laundry situation is out of control, for example. Time to get snow tires on, time to burn that pile leftover from hot August. But now for November my head is in books and writing notes for my lectures, thinking about how to even talk about this weird songwriting pursuit. Can I? Mostly I talk about silence and intuition.
local news:
Here’s a picture of a funny rock I saw today
Here’s a truck I almost bought today even though I shouldn’t. I didn’t. I still want to:
There were also elections yesterday. I haven’t sorted out what to make of the results yet but it did happen.
If you know of anyone who might like to get these periodic updates from me, you can send this to them, or tell them to sign up on my website.
Thanks, see you.
Phil
